Anthony Dunn, Fiona Raby, welcome windows (2010), http://www.dunneandraby.co.uk/content/projects/525/0

What i like about this piece is the sense of interaction the viewer has with the piece whether that being through the words in the piece which with words can be whatever the viewer makes them they could represent one thing for one person and something totaly different for another. I feel the piece has a very pesonel style to it.

starting to design

This week i have been starting to develop ideas for designs, all of the research i have done has proved to be very useful as it has given me lots of ideas and inspiration especially my film. The film has been most useful as it has given me ideas that i didnt originally plan to have. I will continue to research and add to the blog as i develop my designs further.

Sony movement advert

This sony advert has only stood out to me for its scense of not just colour which is the obvious thing u grasp from   the video but also the movement in the video and the backing track which creates a very relaxing feel to the advert, which is what i want one of the main aspects of my space to be.

Movement

One of the best things that came out of making my movie was the notion of time moving faster than what it was supposed to be, this was one of the things i wanted to achieve in the film but it has worked better than i thought it would. This is something i would like to maybe take forward and look into further as movement can represent so many things emotions, speed, time even light.

My film: Escapism

This is my film that i have created, the film is based on being able to escape into ur own world when in a busy space and allowing the world to go bye. The film translates what i want my space to be.

James Hart Dyke

Espionage 2010
oil on canvas 168x215cm

Meeting an agent 2010
oil on canvas 55x75cm

James Hart Dyke has recently had an exhibition showcasing his series of MI6 spy paintings the paintings show an outsiders interprintation of the worldof the spy. This explains why the paintings have a blurred and almost camouflaghed effect. I like this effect of blending the spys into there enviroment so nobody can properly see them

Space where you can hide or disapear.

A space where you can hide or disapear is something that interests me, being able to escape all of your problems and chill out are probabaly the main things to consider when designing a bibliotherapy space. This could be through the space being camouflaghed or alternatively a space where people can see you but you cant see or hear them.

Inception

Inception is a fascinating film it explores the dream world and dreams within dreams to create made up worlds where reality and dream somehow meet together. Escapism is a big theme throughout the movie.

Escapism!

Escapism is one of the themes i have recognised through looking into Bibliotherapy and is something i would like to explore further in my film. Escapism is a fascinating subject just being able to escape into your own world almost like a dream, where you can create whatever u like, a good example of escapism would be a game like world of warcraft or runescape where you create your own charecter in a fantasy world.

What i like about this piece of sound art by Bruce Nauman is the relaxing value to the piece the different sounds and words make it seem almost like meditation.

Film ideas

The Film needs to be relevent the the research i have already carried out, so it needs to relate to the themes lucy uses in her work and her Bibliotherapy, emotions, thoughts and memories being the main ones. The thing i think will prove most difficult is trying to communicate this in film but i feel it has alot of room for creativity and i am looking forward to creating the film.

ideas for locations: bibliotherapy

These images are examples of primary source research that i have done, the images are of fornby beach and piccadily station. Train stations are always busy places so a space for you to chill out and relax would be perfect and maybe you could use fornby beach for the oposite a space for letting your emotions out which would contrast nicely with the location.

Music that show emotion

In music Artists and songwriters express alot of there different emotions and as i like to listen to music is gives me alot of inspiration especially in this project as i think there is a clear link between different songs and lyrics and lucys work whether that be from the emotions expressed within the song or simply the words used within them.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers (under the bridge), This song expresses the emotions anthony kiedis the lead singer of the red hot chilli peppers felt while he was doing heroin underneath a bridge after leaving his girlfriend to go and get drugs and the feeling of being alone.

Rise Against (The good left undone). Rise Against are an american Punk band, the reason i wanted to show some punk music is because of the range of emotions the lyrics show or you can feel whilst listenin to it. Punk can express lots of different feeling and emotions whether they are happy, sad or fun.

Calm Space

This Design for a chapel is very interesting the design is so plain whilst still retaining the calm relaxing space needed for a chapel while using no decoration inside. The main emphisis in a chapel is calm and relaxing enviroment where people can feel at ease. You could use this notion of calmness and relaxation when designing a space for Lucy`s Bibliotherapy.

Location for Bibliotherapy

The location in which the bibliotherapy space could be situated is one of the most important things to consider. Whether the location is a busy location or a quite location, although i think the idea of a busy location would be better as i like the idea of the bibliotherapy being a calm relaxing space among a stressfull busy eniviroment.

Yiwu Survey, 2006-2007, ( container, commodities, variable dimensions) New world order contemporary intallation art and photography from china
curated , Mark wilson, sue-an van der Zijpp, Sabine Wang texts by Carol Yinghua Lu, Sue An Van der Zijpp

What i like about this piece is the originality and crazyness of it it. I was really drawn to the image because of sense that all of the items have been collected or could mean something to someone somewhere.

What i like about this work is the personel side of it, suitcases are quite a personel thing to exhitit a piece of art inside and with lucys work bring about emotions i think it links well.

Lighting for the space

Lighting inside the space could really add to the mood of the space and with alot of Lucy`s work being based on emotions then different forms of lighting could really add to the feel of the exhibition.

Theatre Lighting
Lighting in theatre design is one of the most important aspects to consider when designing for a set which could be easily transfered to designing lighting for an exhibition space where one of the main themes is trying to tell a story or make the space feel happy or sad to relfect the mood of the exhibition.

Themes Lucys uses in her work.

Emotions
Happines
Sadness
Anger
Love
Fear

History- Personel, public

Regreneration

Language

Death

Memories
